People practicing routines in the hall outside the workshop rooms, three or four different strains of salsa music wafting through the air. Small crowds gathered around instructors selling videos and music.. herds of people rushing from one room to the next to get to their next workshop...David Melendez, keeping presenters on time and playing host to all.
Shine Face-Off Edie & Al Style!
Take 100 women and 100 men, split into two camps. Add forces of nature Edie "The Salsa Freak" & Al "Liquid Silver" Espinoza.
Combine everything into a Shine Face-off workshop, stir vigorously.
Garnish this heady brew with the women shouting "Hah" with a shine back at the men who had teased them with a "Ho" and a flare, and the earth moved. This was only one of the 36 week-end workshops.
Saturday Night Notes
Sheraton's Main Ballroom was so packed Saturday night, people were dancing on the carpet adjacent to the dance floor & in the corridors outside.
Pawel came through for Washington DC's Art-in-Motion. He saw the show routine for the first time Wednesday, rehearsed Friday and Saturday afternoon two hours per rehearsal. Performed Saturday Night!
