Mother Nature's Summer, such a fleeting season, teasing like a lover, without a clue to Old Man Winter and his cold grey.
City Dance Corps caught a moment in the seasons as they hustled Summer on an urban rooftop on Summer's last day for 2009.
Montreal's Victor & Katia spent the week-end teaching good old fashioned Latin Hustle. And strains of what was popular music from the 70s to the 90s with a few current pieces floated over rooftops, parking lots and a Starbucks terrace down on King Street.
One, two, 'and three,' one, two, 'and three...' was felt in tunes ranging from house music to Michael Jackon's Billy Jean as they practiced their step and elastic framing on the rooftop deck. A seemingly more relaxed dance, hustle's slow motion turns and a linear line of dance defined the motion. Unlike mambo and some salsa, keeping the feet moving is key to connecting with a partner.
Easy going music, an easy going dance, home made food from Bong's pasta, Molika's lemony cupcakes, Irene's hummus, a chocolate chip banana loaf and SalsaTO.ca's chocolate cake helped people ease Summer's fleeting embrace and step into Autumn.
