The 2009 Winter Salsa Carnival opened with a rush Thursday with people coming as far away as Israel, Montreal, Trinidad to take in tunes and the shows and the dancing and the company!
The IronMan award must go to SalsaOle.ca who closed out the performances. Their dancing was fiery, just like their costumes! These two intrepid couples drove in from Ottawa, danced, performed, danced some more and then drove back. Oh yes, Ottawa is about 5 hours - one way.
Oscar's LatinGrooveProductions.com children had a very entertaining take on "Dirty Dancing's" signature song, the one where Johnny and Baby cut it loose! Their performance was very strong. Remember that they only started dancing six months ago.
iFreeStyle's gang cruised effortlessly through a flirty piece. Play Mambo played opposites with the suit and the street. Enamorase Dance entertained them, while SalsaTO's Mike and Sharon laughed and played through their tribute to Tito Puente.
Friday and Saturday shows are sold out. There is room for dancing however. And you have a chance to catch some more performances Sunday @ Dovercourt.
