Sunday - Party - 'Til 2006

Sunday had an energy all of its own. While Friday's dance burst open with a year's pent-up energy, and Saturday burned brightly, Sunday was a last chance. One last night to dance. One last chance to meet a friend. One last time before next year.

At the same time, Sunday is the most fun. For the instructors and the performers, the pressure is gone. It's time to cut loose a little and play before going home or on to the next destination.

Routines past, present and future are parodied and invented when this critical mass of creativity, comedy and mischief converge. It started shortly after the show ended. Their comic timing puts Belushi and Ackroyd to shame - all to the salsa beat.

"12 spins, had enough?" Super Mario quipped as he spun Mambo Tribe's Magna three ways to Sunday and passed her to Ismael who spun her another 12 times without missing a beat.

The crowds started gathering as Ismael and Al 'Liquid Silver' Espinoza did a slow motion version of Terminator - Gubernator - Salsanator and Rock 'em - Sock 'em Robots along vendors row outside the dance venue.

Spectators who stood around too long got dragged into the growing meyhem. Ismael, Al & Company swept David Melendez into the fun and turned him into a skipping rope - all to the salsa music coming from the dance venue.

"Hey lets do it to Super Mario!" they yelled as Super Mario ran... "I knew they were coming..."

They even did a version of Pawel & Dora's "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" - the guys flying through the air.

All too soon the magic began to fade. People drifted home. The energy on the dance floor closed in on itself, like a dying campfire - smaller and smaller and smaller - closer to the door - closer to the door - closer to the door - until it was gone.... for another year.
