2009 4th Winter Salsa Carnival fun continued at Saturday 10 January at Dovercourt House with the 2nd Salsa Competition Preliminary round. Five couples competed; Mitch & Lindsay; Christy & Briia; Gil & Michelle; Alex & Veronika; Balazs & Zsusi.!
Toronto's salsa scene is maturing and the talent pool is getting deeper. The top three couples can easily give any professional couple a run for their money. The professional competition round and the finals will definitely be worth watching.!
Judging is in good hands with Latin Energy's Vanesa as head judge with Los Salsomanos's Giovanni, the Godfather of Salsa, Dance to Live's Jose, iFreeStyle's Caryl, and a legendary Mayan competition winner Ana, whose Blade routine still sends rumbles throughout the salsa world.
Three couples - Christy & Briia; Gil & Michelle; Alex & Veronika; Balazs & Zsusi - advanced to the semi-finals being held Saturday 7 February at Dovercourt House. The other two couples can try again at the next preliminary round Sat. 24 January at Dovercourt.

Reserve your place now as seating for Friday and Saturday's Betty Oliphant Theatreis capped at roughly 256. And as a first at a large Toronto event, there will be social dancing from about 8:00pm.
